Catching Up

Drawing By the River, Avenham Park, Preston

It's been a while, hasn't it, since my last blog? I'll try and remember what's been happening.
A search through my sketchbooks should give me some clues!
Here's a picture, above, of Avenham Park in Preston, it's where myself and Mr Price met up with other Preston Sketchers.
As is this one of Morrisons Supermarket.

More Reasons to Sketch at Morrisons..

And we also met at Worden Park in Leyland and sheltered from the rain in the one place we could, condemned to draw what was in front of us, or the person next to us, which is what Messrs Price and Heath often do anyway!

I seem to have spent a lot of time in hospitals, this one's when I was waiting in the out-patients..

And here's my dear old Mum who I found slumped at her home after a heart attack - thankfully she's making a good recovery.

I've done a lot of bus travel and enjoyed drawing out of the windows,

"..And in Five Minutes It Was Out Here!"

and listening to snippets of conversation.

I've travelled by Virgin train (this sketch has got to be be worth a fortune now!)

Good times were spent in Brittany.

But now I'm back, doing things like sketching at the museum in Preston,

sometimes venturing over the border to Yorkshire..

Bridestones, Todmorden
and, in the studio, catching up with the artworks for my exhibition next year.

Hi Caroline!

I recently came across your blog and have been thoroughly enjoying looking through it. You have such a unique style of drawing! I absolutely love your sketch work, and Brittany looks like an inspiring place to live for such an artist as yourself.

I was wondering if you would be interested in sharing your blog on Glipho? Glipho is a new social blogging network that aims to promote the writing of its users and help build their audiences. We are trying to establish a creative community at Glipho, and your blog is just what we are looking for.

As your blog is powered by Blogger, you can simply import all your old posts to Glipho without affecting your existing blog at all. You can use your Glipho account to connect to any other major social network accounts you may own, so you can spread your blog as far as possible. We also use our own social media accounts to promote your content.

The only thing I might mention is that we have a minimum of 150 words on each post, which may conflict with some of your shorter entries simply showcasing your work.

However, if you're interested check out our website at http://glipho.com and have a look around. Please feel free to ask me any questions, and if you would like to receive an invite to set up an account!

Have a great day, and I hope to see more beautiful artwork by you soon,

Dear Caroline

I hope this email finds you well. I wonder if you may be willing to submit for the London Road Fire Station Manchester campaign? I have seen your wonderful Manchester and Urban landscapes and wonder if this cause is something that may interest you?

I started the petition to save this Grade II* Icon that has been on the At Risk register since 1998. The current owners Britannia Hotels have owned the building since 1986, had four planning permissions (1986, 1993, 2006, 2010) and have acted on none, leading to the neglect, damage and uncertain future for one of Manchester's Greatest Heritage Assets.

We have now formed the Friends of London Road Fire Station Trust and have a committee and are gaining member interest rapidly. Piccadilly Place has offered to give us its community space to help us with our campaign.

We are seeking to launch an architecture competition across three age groups. With the winners of this competition being exhibited and a history of LRFS, we would also like to exhibit art works and photography donated to us by artists. For example Oliver East Elbow's artist has given us works as well as a few other artists.

We hope to be able to make these images into an art book, prints or postcard book.

We will have a date agreed soon with Piccadilly Place studios so we can have this exhibition with the competition entrants, some time in August. So if you want to help, a few weeks before of your scanned work could be made, and then exhibited in August.

Your great art and your benevolent support would be most graciously welcome as this is an important case for Manchester, for a city that deserves better.

Best wishes
